About our School
Providing superior training for nurse aides is our exclusive focus. Our staff is made up of RN's who have worked as charge or staff nurses, nursing educators, directors of nursing, and nursing administrators. They are here because of a desire to help students evolve into competent and caring caregivers. Our goal is to help you learn in a supportive environment and move smoothly through the process of becoming a certified nursing assistant. We take pride in ensuring that our school promotes a pleasant environment that facilitates learning.
The mission of The Sarah V. Boston School is to educate students from all segments of the population to deliver quality nursing care to all, particularly to those whose health needs have been traditionally underserved or neglected. The mission will be accomplished through our innovative program that reflects the need and current trends of society, while promoting continuing professional growth.
The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) is an individual who has completed the basic training requirements. He/she is a member of the health care team, and functions under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The CNA assists the nurse in giving care by performing delegated nursing tasks and procedures; communicating appropriately with the healthcare team, clients, family members, and visitors; maintaining a safe environment; and reporting observations and changes related to the client’s physical and mental health. The purpose of this training program is to provide the student with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skill needed to function safely and appropriately in the role of the CNA.
